After the Swim and Camping Adventures

Molly’s post Bala adventure was quite the rollercoaster 🎢. Once home, she decided to perfect the art of being a couch potato, refusing to budge, walk or even sniff at her dinner. Any Labrador owner knows this is as unusual as a cat enjoying a bath😂. We initially thought she was just a bit stiff from all the fun, but by the next morning she was still in her ‘I’m not moving” phase. A trip to the vet revealed an unexpected plot twist: hip dyplasia. While it was a shock catching it at just one years old was a silver lining. So off we went to weekly Hydrotherapy sessions, where Molly became quite the splash artist!

Back in 2005, finding dog-friendly spots could be like looking for a needle in a haystack, so we decided to buy a caravan and join the @camperandcaraven crew. Most of our weekend escapades were local, with stays at places like @delemereforest, @plasseyholidaypark, @derwentwaterand @beconsfieldholidaypark.

Delamere was always a top pick. The girls quickly mastered the Thursday night caravan prep routine , and every Friday morning Molly would let out a friendly growl noise , as if she knew it was time for another adventure 😂. The campsite was right next to the forest, making dog walks a breeze – and sometimes a muddy one, which only added to the fun! We collected lots of large sticks, though most were too big to squeeze through the gate. From there we would venture into Chester or Wales.

At Plassey Holiday park, we took a scenic walk around @chirkcastlent and managed to get a bit lost. If memory serves, it was a chilly, drizzly day, so we treated ourselves to a late lunch at @theboaterbistocka charming pub by the River Dee.

Our caravan trip to The Oval at Derwent Water was a splash-tastic success! The girls enjoyed a short stroll into Keswick, and Molly, with her newfound love of swimming, happily took a dip in the lake, We almost lost her, though, as she just kept swimming! We also explored Windermere and Bowness, where the girls took their first boat ride, it took them a while to find their see legs.

At Beconsfield Holiday Park, the girls made some feathered friends with the ducks wandering around our caravan. They spent ages watching them, completely mesmerised. Walks around Shrewsbury were delightful, with the girls sitting outside a cafe, basking in the attention of the customer inside.
