The Camping Adventures Continue …

Ah, another weekend away for the girls! This time to a Conkers caravan and camping site, situated in a place called Swadlincote near Derbyshire. Once we arrived at any campsite it seemed a tradition for dad to tackle the outside chores, like fetching water and ensuring the caravan was safe, while mum made sure we had our tea ~ priorities m right? The campsite had a lovely dog walk nearby which we used each morning, but we had a lovely day visiting Chalke Abbey. There was plenty of space Molly and Tilly to run around, although there are deer in the park so we were mindful to keep them away from them. Tilly, ever the mischievous one, spotted a cattle trough in the middle of the field with Molly quickly following behind! The next thing we heard was a huge splash as two chocolate Labradors were splashing around a disturbing all the sediment at the bottom 😫, the drive back to the caravan was less enjoyable, even with all the car windows open the smell was dreadful! This weekend away was fun but ended up with some sad news a few weeks later.

Leek caravan site was another weekend away for Molly and Tilly, Molly sticking to her Friday morning routine, letting us all know we were off on our travels again. This was only a small site so the weekend was spent chilling with walks for the girls.

Lamb Cottage caravan site is situated in Whitgate, which is nestled between Northwich and Winsford, and it is adults only. It has an enclosed woodland walk for the girls. The girls had a wonderful day running on the beach and paddling in the sea at New Brighton beach, followed by a stop off at The Plough Inn, Whitegate, although dogs are only allowed in the tap room. The best surprise for all of us was waking up the following morning to snow!

The next stop was Cheddar Mendip Heights, this was the girls first five night stay in the caravan, and they found it hilarious watching two humans struggle to attach an awning to the caravan for the first time! The campsite is close to the Cheddar Gorge, famous for its cheese and a Labrador’s favourite food, or at least one of them. Molly and Tilly went into the famous Gorge, seeing the cheese maturing, it is slightly damp in there which Tilly was not impressed getting dripped on. The end of the tour leads straight into the gift shop, which was a challenge when stuffed toys are within a Labradors reach! Bath was their next adventure stop, again getting plenty of fuss from people seeing two chocolate Labradors together. Wells followed next, we walked overhead a bridge to Bishops Palace watching people playing croquet, Wells has small stone channels which sprin water runs down, note to owner do not walk behind a dog who is walking in water! Weston Super Mare was also visited the girls enjoyed more beach and paddle time.

We Saved The Best Til Last

Watergate Bay touring park, Newquay Cornwall. What an adventure! The girls were a bit confused as their journey to Cornwall began while it was still dark ourtside (4am, to be precise!). Their breakfast stop was Michaelwood motorway service station on the M5, a first for all of us. Wow, what a lovely place Watergate was, especially as the sun was shinning. The park has its own entertainment on site as well as a heated indoor swimming pool, which left Molly, our water baby, a bit puzzled as she was not allowed in, the cheek 😂. The girls enjoyed going to the beach is watergate bay, been joining in a game of cricket with some boys, you know what Labradors are like chasing balls! Due to the heat, and it was hot, the days were mostly spent relaxing by the caravan, with Tilly finding her cool spot underneath it and people watching. We all agreed it was the best place we had visited, so much so that we returned to Cornwall most years, without the caravan 😜
