With Molly Sadly gone, we were just a family of three.
As first-time dog owners , we weren’t quite sure what the best thing to do for Tilly was. We did some research and found a local dog trainer who came to our house. We chatted through our concerns for her and how to help her cope with being alone without the extra support she had before, how best to leave her in the house while we were out, and if we needed to go back to dog training. She advised us to take Tilly out socially and start leaving her alone at home, beginning with a couple of minutes and slowly increasingly the time. Tilly took to being home alone well, but being out socially was a bit tricky. She became reactive towards other dogs when we were out on walks, though she was fine off the leash . So taking her out became a bit of a challenge. The dog trainer also offered a home boarding for dogs, so sure suggested that Tilly stay with her for one night. Thankfully, that went well, and we were able to have a few weekends away. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, and Tilly appeared to settle into her new life, but we always worried she might be lonely 😢. So after about ten months and a lot of discussion, we decided to get her a companion.
Let me introduce you to Poppy, official name, Carriegame Uptown Girl, a cute black Labrador.
