Bringing Poppy Home: Tilly & Poppy the next Chapter

The day we brought our new black Labrador puppy home is a memory I will cherish forever, and laugh about too, particularly the car journey home. To say she made it memorable is an understatement ! She made a loud crying, squealing noise all the way home, even though she was been held and cuddled, it was the longest 20 minute drive ever. No matter how much we read, nothing could prepare us for the whirlwind energy that this black Labrador puppy brought with her.

We collected, full name Carriegame Uptown Girl, on 7th July 2010. We were excited to bring her home, but also a little nervous, not knowing how Tilly would react with her, we had nothing to worry about they seemed to hit it off from thr start.

We decided to call her Poppy, on her first night with us was a blend of excitement and anxiety. Our breeder had wisely sent us with a piece of the bedding Poppy had shared with her littermates, which seemed to comfort her, and her first night went smoothly. As a precaution we had purchased a baby monitor to hear if she was upset during the night.

Training Poppy was one of the most rewarding parts of her journey, house training was pretty straight forward as she followed Tilly each time she went outside, of course there was always accidents during the night, but, that is to be expected with a young pup! Labradors are known for their intelligence 😜😂, eagerness to please, and being foods-driven. Patience is required. Poppy completed and passed her Puppy Life Skill and her Kebbel Club Good Citizen Bronze, Silver and Gold before her first birthday.

The first night and day were exciting for us all, with some visitors who were curious to meet her.

Our adventures with Poppy and Tilly, the new duo were about to begin!
