On The Move ….. Again!

Apart from all the little holidays and day trips during the year, another big adventure was looming on the horizon: moving house again! Don’t get me wrong, the house we were currently living in was lovely, but this one, as Jason put it, was amazing?! If I am lucky enough to have readers following my stories, you will soon learn that moving is in our DNA! As I have said before, two Labradors and packing are not the best mix, but we managed it again! We also discovered that sleeping on a mattress on the living room floor doesn’t mean a good rest with two Labradors who snore and like to make themselves comfortable too. Let’s just say it was cosy!

Moving day arrived, and it felt like déjà vu. Poppy and Lottie went into daycare so we could easily move boxes and pack vehicles. Everything was going well, and then it happened—the loudest crash! I went running from the kitchen to find Jason standing over a whole box of smashed crockery, cups, and plates, and a few other bits. It turns out the bottom of the box had collapsed. What made it more ironic was that this was the last box to move! Luckily, that wasn’t all of our cups, so we were at least able to make our first cup of coffee in our new house, even if it meant we were down to two cups!

We collected Poppy and Lottie from their day out and decided to treat them to dinner out, as we were told they had been on their best behaviour. Although we didn’t expect anything less, and more importantly, as we had just moved, there was no food in the new house! When we arrived back in our new house, we let the girls explore their new surroundings. After a few minutes, we turned to see that Poppy was more than happy in her new abode; she had managed to get into the sofa and was fast asleep!

Unpacking was almost as fun as packing, with two noses ‘lab’ checking every box as it was opened. If someone caught their eye or smell off, they would go with it, so a lot of the time was spent chasing them around the house or saying that phrase which all Labrador owners have said hundreds of times: ‘what have you got in your mouth?’ or the other phrase, ‘leave.’ Although I am sure the last one, they look at you as if they have never heard the word before!

This move was done at the end of November, which meant Christmas was around the corner. We kept our Christmas Day traditions, found the girls’ stockings for Santa to leave presents and a note to let him know they had been good girls and that they had also moved house, and of course, Christmas dinner!

Enjoying Daycare and its sunny!
