When summer arrives in the UK and the weather is warm, you have to make the most of it, as the saying goes, ‘make hay while the sun shines’! Who knows how long it will last. With this in mind, an opportunity arose to attend an outdoor Paws 4 Yoga class. Now, personally, this is not normally my kind of thing, but this one involved taking your canine friend. The event was held at Unleashed Wrenbury, and as you know, this is one of the favourite places for Poppy and Lottie. With this in mind, I booked my ticket not knowing who I would take, as being on my own, both was not an option! The day arrived, and the sun was shining. It was decided that Lottie would have the pleasure of this visit, so off we went, not knowing what to expect. When we arrived, there must have been around 10-15 other people along with their canine friends. The yoga mats were all set out for us in a circle, and there was also a stall selling drinks and cakes for both humans and non-humans. To start, the dogs were left off-leash to play and swim in the lake or try the adventure area, which holds various agility equipment. Doing this at the beginning hopefully meant that when the class began, the dogs would be a little tired. I had taken the precaution of putting some chicken in my bag for a just-in-case moment. I am not sure this was the best idea as Lottie sniffed them out and tried to release the chicken from its confines! We started the class with some stretches before going into various poses, the idea being that Lottie was part of the class, not our Lottie. Being the water baby she was, all she wanted to do was go back to the lake, so needless to say, the class was not as relaxing as I had hoped, although, in her defence, she was not alone! Before the relaxation part of the day, we took time for a coffee and cake. Being a Labrador, this was an important part of the morning! We were lucky enough to be placed next to a lovely lady who had a cockerpoo, who sat quietly with his ‘mum’. Lottie kept them entertained each time she was snaffling in my bag trying to retrieve whatever was left of the chicken! When the time came for the quiet meditation part of the day, we were asked to lie on the mats, eyes shut, and just chill in the silence. Well, what can I say, I soon found out Lottie is not a fan of silence! She spent the next what seemed like forever, it was only 10 minutes, making a moaning or crying sound. I was trying to ignore her, hoping she would stop, and the lady next to me was chuckling as she thought it was hilarious! I will now tell you this is the reason I didn’t take Poppy, as I knew that as soon as it went quiet, she would have to break the silence! All in all, it was a good day, and I would definitely do it again. Lottie must have had a good day because the rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing in silence! 😂
